bird feeder update: look who got busted!

look what i saw in the birdfeeder i just wrote about yesterday.

the feeder was swaying where it was hanging on the branch…

i got a little closer to inspect…

“chippie”  (the chipmunk).

startled, chippie ran out of the birdfeeder, but not before looking back at me as if to say “what bird seeds? i don’t know what you’re talking about lady…”

but just look at those cheek-fulls! so busted.

yeah, you better run!

(i’m perfectly normal in having these dialogues with random critters in my yard, right?)

edited november 2010, to add: chippie’s friend came for a visit a few months later.

He’s a pretty cute criminal, you’ve got to admit…. I was wondering how your feeders would fare without a baffle. Rodents are adorable and all but they can really chow down. And they can be destructive to feeders that aren’t armoured. I’ve lost many a sweet feeder myself over the years….

I talk to the rather large lizard living in my garden shed so it seems perfectly normal to me to speak to the animals.

a lizard? i bet you have some interesting conversations…

if i put a baffle, a combination lock and wrapped the whole thing in barbed wire, i bet they’d still find a way in. they’re welcome to it. clever and determined little things…

Adorable. Busted! Now this is a word and picture combo that would be awesome for my Picture-It series on EnglishClub.com. Maybe a guest post is in order?
