things i'll miss about summer…

yoga on the back porch, set to the sound of the kids playing in the sprinkler…

baddha konasana yoga

"baddha konasana" (translation: bound angle pose)

it wasn’t nearly as serene or uninterrupted as it may appear. if you have little ones and you try to carve out some serenity during your day, you understand this all too well.

or you may think i’m nuts for even trying…

…breathe in…
“mommy, i’m thirsty!”
…breathe out…
“no, that’s mine!”
…release the tension…
“aaaaaaah! a wasp!!!”
…namaste. (translation: nice try)

but still… i will remember this moment in the thick of winter. and i will miss the trying.

this post will put a knowing smile on every mother’s face … I can remember wondering “when” I’d ever get to have some privacy … before I knew it … an empty nest

your yoga pose is inspiring Ana … you must have been doing yoga for awhile

    I will miss going barefoot

i’ve been doing yoga for a long while now. (i mentioned it a little, here)… i imagine that no amount of yoga or “living in the moment” can ever really prepare you for that empty nest. i do like how you fill yours with special things and moments.

I’m looking forward to summer myself, we’re in the middle of winter.

I love the long days of summer, they boost my productivity :)

When I move the yoga practice indoors the dogs find me fascinating. Something about me being on the floor makes them curious and playful. Nothing like doing a sun salutation and bopping a dog on the noggin.

    Things?

I miss yoga altogether. This post made me wonder if maybe I can do my yoga on my back porch and still keep an eye on the kids inside. Somehow I think not. One or both of them usually insists on jumping on my back if I merely think about doing yoga.

Every time I try to do a bit of yoga with the 4 year old around, she insists on laying on top of me, climbing over my legs or begging me to help her do the poses. Cute, but doesn’t really accomplish my intended goal of peace and relaxation! Next time, I’ll get out her kids yoga DVD and just give in :)

Its too soon to talk about winter! Its over 100 degrees here!

  7. Whitney says:

Oh boy, can I relate. I’ve missed out on most of my normal summer pursuits this year due to the fractured ankle, but am looking forward to outdoor yoga, wlaking barefoot, and hanging my feet in the water next year.
