please note: i apologize in advance for my questionable use of puns and references to star wars. i’m sure they will offend true star wars fans, as well as those who respect and enjoy the english language. i have written the phrases in green, so that if you wish, you may divert your eyes elsewhere…i understand how painful and cringe-worthy puns are, but i just could not help myself. i hope we’re still good at the end of this…

i wrote about the darth vader cake pan here.
instead of using black icing (i refused to join the dark side), i went with chocolate. i think chocolate vader tasted better than black icing vader might have, but also i didn’t want to end up with grey or mauve vader. i’m still stinging a bit from the whole pink elmo cake incident a few years ago.
and so. darth vader cake, made with chocolate icing.

that’s a lot of chocolate. go on, hop on your exercise bike for a minute, i’ll wait…
i made 2 layers, cut off the excess so they would stack flat on top of each other, and filled a layer of light pudding in the middle. then i decorated it by piping with different tips to give it some texture.

i really wish i’d had this pan for birthday boy’s 4th birthday. then i could have written “may the 4th be with you” or something like that.
(are we still good? :-))

Ana! This is so good! I’m in complete envy of your cake decorating skills. Plus, I could go for eating an entire cake like this right about now. Truthfully, I feel like that all of the time.
Happy 5th little man!
Fantastic! I am not a Star Wars fan, but I can appreciate a great cake – and I think your references are funny! Esp the 4th!
I love it! My boys are big Star Wars fans. They would have been delighted to get a cake like this on a special birthday.
LOL! You crack me up :) I bet it tasted as good as it looked!
you are a Lady of many talents … I am drooling over the chocolate and pudding I am … Darth never looked so good!
Happy Birth Day to you too sweet momma!

I am loving this cake .. WOW.
The cake looks wonderful! I remember my mom making some of those (we never had Darth Vadar) when we were kids.
we are still good! yum. happy birthday to the boy.
You should submit your cake to the official StarWars blog (though it seems slightly less popular than yours!). Check out this Boba Feta Quiche:

So glad you followed up. You could still have gone with the 4th is behind you or may the 4th remain with you, or…somehow I am sure YOUr mind could phrase it properly.
