valentine’s day seems to be a very polarizing time of year. you either love it, or you don’t. i fall into the latter category mostly, but i find that lately, i’m drifting slightly towards the middle. i think having little ones who get excited about making heart-shaped cookies brings a bit of sweetness to the whole phoney baloney holiday*. (sorry romantics.)

I guess I like Valentine’s Day because it’s named after a saint – one of the many in this world who understood that love is about action, not pretty hearts and flowers!
i think it’s the commercial aspect of it that bugs me most. though i’ll take heart shaped cookies too, especially if they’re homemade.
I guess I’ve always been quite fond of Valentine’s Day. I feel like it is a good thing to have a day where you really think about all of the people you love and to express that love to them. Not necessarily through a card or a box of chocolates, but a phone call or a little email saying, ‘Hey, it’s Valentine’s Day, I appreciate you and I love you!’ I think a lot of people in the world actually need a gentle little reminder that the people who mean the most to them should be told that once in awhile!
Boyfriend and I have always had a strict rule NOT to get each other meaningless little gifts for Valentine’s Day but to stay home and cook something for dinner we might not normally cook for ourselves. We splurge, we imbibe, we get silly and giggle, we actually clean up the kitchen together when we’re done (rather than leave it until the next morning)…this year we’re visiting my mom on Valentine’s Day and she (oddly enough) suggested that the three of us cook a special meal together rather than go out. Love! :)

well, i have to agree about v-day. and i don’t celebrate. so i have no “valentine” posts to list.

I have no feelings toward valentines day. Don’t love it, don’t hate it. As a kid I liked the creativity that came with it, but not the holiday itsself. I’m a Halloween girl , so I’m saving all my crafting energy for THAT beautiful holiday :)
