earlier this week, i shared a project where i turned a tablecloth into a little tunic dress. i know there are many talented people out there doing similar things, some who have built businesses around this idea (yeah i’m looking at you thursday …i’m still a little sad about what you did to that poor unsuspecting star wars bedding).

Ok, I’ve determined that if I don’t have a post to share for Archive Dive, I’m just going to write one. Of course, today I do have one to share, so that’s a moot point. But you know what I mean, yes? I just hate the weeks when I haven’t participated.

Well, I found an old blog post I wrote for an environmental blog. We still keep those inner cereal bags and use them as freezer bags. And yes, we still use the boxes for cardboard characters, which gives me an idea for Sunday’s upcoming Zhu Zhu birthday party, where all of the guests are getting Z names. Unfortunately, we fell off the Monthly Earth Hour wagon. Those were great times and my kids learned a lot about the environment from our monthly unplugged ritual. When Daddy stopped working nights we stopped doing it. Hmm…I love the archive dive.

Fun topic. I’ve been meaning to comment for day on the dress you made– I love it! I haven’t done much (yet) in the way of sewing with recycled materials, but I love the idea, and I’ve got a few ideas that I’d like to try for little projects. I’d love to learn more about it, so I can’t wait to check out the other links.

Is it weird that I don’t have anything to add to this one? Yes, I do slaughter beautiful vintage linens to make aprons and totes, but I don’t think that should count. I really want to get crafty for myself very soon. Once that times comes I’m definitely going to be doing some serious re-purposing!

My post Never Underestimate an Upcycle, isn’t using something as something else, but is definitely in the realm of reuse. Many items people toss aside just need a little lovin’ upgrade to be considered useful again. Good topic! I really like the ribbon hot pad, so nifty!
