making promises, making bubbles

“a promise made is a debt unpaid.” ~ robert service, english-born canadian poet.

it’s the eve of a national election here in canada. and while i rarely comment on politics, i do follow it closely and feel strongly about getting out there and voting. i’ll be doing that in the morning. that’s the making promises bit…

“no bubble is so iridescent or floats longer than that blown by the successful teacher.”  ~ william osler, canadian physician & the “father of modern medicine”

this is an old one, but i came across it only recently. it’s a video of sterling johnson. he is a …bubblesmith. like a blacksmith, but with bubbles. really. that’s the making bubbles bit…

Those bubbles are amazing! They look like space creatures.

We voted in the advance polls last Monday, since we’ll be on the road tomorrow. I definitely agree that getting out there and voting is super important… and since one of my classmates was one of the instigators of the somewhat-infamous vote mob at the University of Guelph, I doubly feel the obligation this year. :)

  2. Shared this with my facebook family and friends, so awesome! The kids will love it!

  3. Amazing, I’ve never seen this before and it’s absolutely beautiful. I love how they pop :)

    Good luck tomorrow!

Robert Service is one of my favorite poets. When I lived in Alaska we used to hike out into the backcountry and read his poems out loud. I had forgotten about that until I saw your quote. Thanks!

Popped over to say ‘Hello’. Do Canadian politics get as nasty as the do here?

Like the Osler quote, and very cool bubble video.
    Glad you voted : )

Robert Service – sounds like a smart guy, eh. :)
