if i were to offer you a slice of canada, it might look a little something like that which you see in my new header. i took the photo off the coast of georgian bay, ontario.
the recipe is roughly equal parts rocky terrain and thick forests that have forged their way through the rugged earth, all sandwiched between endless clear (and often cold!) water and sky.
i’m sure that as you travel across this land, those basic ingredients are still there, just in varying amounts. the prairies? hold the water, add more sky. the maritimes? a little more water please.
i hope to travel and experience as much of it as i can.

You had me at the header. Wow! Stunning photo. I love the words you chose for this post too. I just got back from Pinery Campground and was also wowed. It’s been 12 years since I camped at Lake Huron. My kids said it was the most beautiful beach they’ve ever been to.

Love the pictures. I would love to roll up my jeans, take off my socks and shoes and go walking in the shallows on the rocks! I don’t care if it is cold. Does it ever get warm in the summer?
oh it does. the many lakes and even the great lakes (erie, ontario, huron) warm up over the summer months but georgian bay has notoriously cooler water.
That looks gorgeous!! If you swapped out the conifers, it might even look tropical – it kind of reminds me of some of the scenery from Lost.
I think I went to part of Georgian Bay once – is Wasaga Beach on Georgian Bay? – but in my memory it looked completely different. We’re definitely spoilt living in Canada though… I think I’d be nervous to try living somewhere else! I need those essential ingredients you mentioned. :)
yes, wasaga is on georgian bay. it does look different, it’s sandy and filled with sunbathers :P
