i love this time of year. we spent sunday picking apples at a local orchard. it was the perfect kind of day, blue skies, warm sun, cool breeze.

what do you like to make with what’s in season right now?

Where do you go to pick apples, ana? We drove past Chudleigh’s yesterday and the lineup of traffic was IN.SANE. There’s no way we would go there!! Need to find another orchard…
My mom brought us a basket of garden-fresh tomatoes yesterday. Thinking a batch of homemade pasta sauce is in order :)
oh chudleigh’s is insane. i mean, i’m glad they’re successful and all but the road gets blocked right back to the 401! i will email you directions to a small farm nearby. i think you’ll like it there.
What a fun day! For fall I love to pick fresh potatoes and broccoli (as well as apples :) )
hi abby, i’ve never picked potatoes or broccoli before. though you reminded me of a great little essay i read recently: i picked potatoes for pay as a kid.
Lovely! We’ve been doing salsa now that the tomatoes are coming in by the truckload. We had a salsa contest Friday at the hardware store (they host it every year) and my neighbor won 2nd place! My salsa was the exact same as hers (we made it together) and I didn’t win anything! LOL
haha! i wonder what made the difference to the judges.
I love to make squash soup and maple apple sauce. I have to admit that I get most of my recipes from Chatelaine. Last night I made a homemade granola from a Canadian Living magazine that a friend passed on to me. It’s delicious!
that sounds yummy tara. both of those magazines have good recipes.
