when you go into a yarn store, there is (of course) yarn. and patterns. and then these inspiring little bags with both yarn and matching pattern paired together. all co-mingling and ready to be thrown onto needles and knit up into something fantastic.
i finally took a little time this weekend to make my own knit kits. i took yarn from my stash (not to be confused with ‘stache’ — is movember over yet? longest.month.ever.) and paired them up with my intended pattern for each. i popped them into ziploc bags and they’re ready to be knit.

my finished pile (on the left, below) for gifting over the holidays is decidedly smaller than my to-knit pile (on the right). but it’s nice how a little bit of organization helps inspire me to get more done.

{ ahh. much better.}
i cast on a new project as well. it’s my first time working with lace weight yarn… a 2 ply barely there baby alpaca wool, just lovely. and i’m following a chart. i’ve done basic charts before (for this boat sweater, for example) but this one is a little more involved than i’m used to…

i’ve gotten into the rhythm of it and so far, so good.
