remember our neighbours who moved away? they gave us a few things before leaving, including some hostas from their garden, black-eyed susans, a rose of sharon tree seedling, and this chiminea…

i know. thanks a lot right? ;-) it was rusted and well used. i cleaned it up and gave it a couple of coats of spray paint. i came very close to using my ol’ standby colour, heirloom white. but i thought it wasn’t practical with smoke stains and so on. so i just went with the same copper colour as the chiminea. as always, follow directions on the spray can, wear protective eyewear and a mask, use in a well ventilated area, don’t use near open flames, etc etc.

seriously though, spray paint is so handy. it went on evenly, it sealed the rusted bits, and the metallic sparkle of the paint helped hide some of the imperfections.

thanks neighbours!
