i store my circular needles in their cases, which keeps them tidy, and i can know their size at a glance…
but it causes them to look like this before i start a project:
which can be a little maddening. remember telephones with cords? and how the coil would sometimes come undone and kink a little? equally maddening.
here’s what i do…
i run them under super-hot water.
if it’s a particularly stubborn set, i’ll soak it in boiled water for a few minutes. then i hold the needles in my hands and stretch out the connecting line. while i’m pulling it taut, i run it under cold water to set it in place.
it usually lays a lot flatter and behaves as i cast on my stitches for a new project.
a little less maddening.

do you have any tricks for dealing with coiled circulars? how do you store yours? is there a brand you use that avoids this problem altogether? i’d love to hear more…
